As an events provider, we feel very lucky to have this adventure playground right on our doorstep! Want to know why we love it so much? Here’s just some of the reasons to choose the Lake District for your Team Building Event…

Exciting Activities in the Adventure Capital

Outdoor activities are one of the best ways to bring your team together in a fun environment that also promotes good teamwork.

Widely considered the outdoor capital of the world, there are countless outdoor pursuits to have a go at in the Lake District. Whether it’s getting your team out on the open water for kayaking or sailing, challenging them to a few hours of ghyll scrambling or abseiling, or venturing out onto the peaks by foot or bike, you’ll find something to suit all activity levels.

If you’d rather skimp on the adrenaline-fuelled pursuits, don’t sweat! See Events also offer less physically challenging (but never boring!) activities, such as our orienteering days, treasure hunts and outdoor survival and foraging events. Plus, all our instructors and guides are fully-qualified and trained to ensure your safety, as well as to make sure your team enjoy every minute!

Fells, Fells, Fells

Fell walking is arguably the Lakes’ most popular pastime, and we think it’s a great way to spend the day as a group or team. You may have heard of the Wainwright Fells, a group of 214 hills and mountains spanning the whole of the Lake District. Named after the late writer and avid walker Alfred Wainwright, his fell walking guidebooks are still widely used today.

A walker’s paradise

From the more modest fells like Castle Cragg and Loughrigg, to the mammoth that is Scafell Pike – England’s highest peak – it’s hard to beat that sense of accomplishment on reaching the ascent. With many fells offering great vantage points of the Lake District and the neighbouring Eden Valley, the reward is in the views.

The stunning scenery of the Lake District also makes the perfect backdrop for your team building event or group activity – not to mention a fantastic photo opportunity!

And Lakes – of Course!

The clue is in the name, but the area is also well-known for its vast number of lakes (or bodies of water, if you want to get technical!). Lake Windermere, Ullswater and Derwentwater are considered the centrepieces of the Lake District, though there are plenty of smaller lakes, tarns and rivers to explore. Our lakes also offer some great circular walks that can be done in a few hours, with plenty of chances to stop for a picnic.

Peace and Tranquillity

According to the mental health charity Mind, spending time in nature has been found to greatly improve our mental health and relieve stress, depression, and anxiety. A nature-lover’s paradise, The Lake District is the perfect environment to destress from the pressures of the workplace, giving teams the space needed to recharge and return to work re-energised.

Forest Bathing Lake District

And…breathe

While it’s true that the Lakes can get very busy during peak seasons, there is still plenty of opportunity to experience its peace and tranquillity away from the crowds. In fact, there are several areas that offer quiet reflection away from technology and the noise of modern living, including woodlands, lakes and tarns.

Our Wellbeing Workshops offer exactly this. From Forest Bathing, Yoga and Pilates to our unique Restorative Experiences, our immersive Lake District workshops help to promote your team’s overall wellbeing and offer them tips for lasting self-care.

It’s Iconic!

The Lake District isn’t just known for its lakes and fells – it’s also fondly recognised for its unique iconography, famous figures, food, traditions, and gorgeous Herdwick sheep. Some of the world’s most beloved writers hail from the area, including children’s author and conservationist Beatrix Potter, who brought us characters like Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle Duck.

Probably the most famous Lake District literary figure is William Wordsworth. Born in Cockermouth and later residing in Grasmere with his sister, Dorothy, Wordsworth penned the Lyrical Ballads and arguably Britain’s most recited poem, Daffodils (‘I wandered lonely as a cloud…’)

At See Events, we know it’s the little that details count. Whether it’s fuelling your team with local delicacies like Kendal Mint Cake or Grasmere Gingerbread, or creating a fun Lake District-themed quiz, we can include these elements into your event for a truly Cumbrian experience!
