OUR COUNTRY PURSUITS

Axe throwing is an enjoyable and slightly unusual sport in which the participants go head to head at throwing axes at a target, attempting to hit the bulls eye as near as possible and become the winning team!

Try your hand at this thrilling sport. Laser clay pigeon shooting demands calm concentration, a keen eye and quick reactions.  Perfect your aim and time your shots and soon you will be notching up your ‘kills’.

With no real birds, no one gets hurt, making it a great sport and suitable for all ages and abilities After an initial safety briefing, our instructors will guide through the finer skills.

If you have tried your hand at archery or trap shooting and think of yourself as a sharp shooter, then now you need to put yourself to the ultimate test with our aerial archery target shooting! With a special trap that throws out foam discs into the air, see if you can knock them out of the sky with our adapted arrows and purpose built bows.

With your teammates lined up next to you it will be a challenge to see who can be the quickest and most accurate and hit the target first. This will test your skill and determination in every way, it’s also extremely addictive!

Our survival and bushcraft courses are designed to give our participants a basic knowledge of outdoor and wilderness survival.

Learn valuable skills such as fire lighting, string and knot tying, and basic shelter building. We also offer quirky, modern variations such as pizza making. OR, you can even bake your own afternoon tea complete with homemade scones and jam! Throughout the session there will be professional tuition, offering plenty of hands-on experience in combination with clearly explained theory. Why not combine it with a canoe trip to add to your adventure?

This is your chance to see the Lakeland fells up close and personal and get your adrenaline flowing as you prove your worth on the rock face.  A choice of routes at one of our superb Lakeland crags; spectacular views and an established site all come together to make this a wonderful experience.

When you reach the climbing site you will be provided with all the necessary safety equipment, our instructors will then teach and supervise you throughout the session.

Head to the water and take part in some enjoyable adventure activities. Experience the exhilarating views and scenery and see the Lake District from a different perspective.

Using 2 person Canadian Open Canoes and after some initial instruction on paddle strokes and water safety you will embark on your scenic paddle around Lake Windermere or local tarn and along the banks of the water. A great opportunity to see the amazing scenery and learn new skills as you head off on your Lakeland journey.

Mid way through your journey you will head to a nearby island or landmark and set up camp in order to prepare and cook your bushcraft snack or afternoon tea.

Participants will have the challenge of setting up camp and coming together to build an open fire to cook ‘wild delicacies’ such as garlic flat breads, pizzas, scones and more; cooked over the (hopefully!) roaring fire. Throughout the session there will be professional tuition and plenty of hands on experience in combination with clearly explained theory offing a fun, exciting and memorable event.

Take a map of the lake, a set of clues, global satellite navigation systems, digital cameras and a group of individuals. To complete the course and team challenge you must work together, navigating around the lake and overcoming any obstacles or challenges along the way.

After an initial briefing and session on open canoeing and GPS navigation, teams will journey around the lake to complete the challenge tasks.

Utilizing the GPS units, cameras and essential team skills, open canoes are used as the team collaborates to find land marks, clues and ‘unusual evidence’; taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.

The finale to the day! Locally called Ghyll Scrambling, individuals are kitted out with wetsuit, buoyancy aids and helmets.  Dive and swim in deep pools, fight against the current and aquaseil waterfalls.

Experience the adventure and explore stream beds in the magnificent environments. On the way there may be shallow pool to wade in and cascades to scramble up. If you don’t mind getting wet, this is an exhilarating and memorable team activity in rain or sunshine!
